"It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle."

email me if google hasn't got the answer..History lesson (from July 2011): I still get messages/emails about the pros/cons with MTO v bespoke.

* take note of the shape & undisturbed line of the jacket even whilst holding up an umbrella.
There is nothing wrong with MTO if the tailor/fitter knows what he is doing which is unfortunately a rarity today. I have seen more “car wrecks” from E. Zegna “Su Misura” than a roller derby & they average more than 3 times the cost of a P Johnson MTO commission.
Don’t trust a man that doesn’t own a umbrella large enough for 2. & I don’t mean a disposable or golf umbrella. You want WOOD ;)

“Fratelli della strada”
What were we thinking? Why do we do it? It is the way of the “ciclista”..
It is a common bond that brings us together most mornings, even when we don’t ride. Or if you are not riding due to injury, there is an expectation for you to be at the finish cafe to make sure all is back safe.
48 hours of rain & 4 shades of navy..

Road cycling lessons to street wear.
Wind-proof, shower-proof, breathable, stretch, light-weight, packable, reflective panels, zipped pockets, articulated sleeves & shoulder line for cycling is also very much wearable off the bike.
One would think that Helmut Lang (the original) is moonlighting at Rapha as the fit, details & colour blocks is very much his DNA. Or is he also a cyclist.
There are many correlations between road cycling & tailoring that many would not see. - FIT, FUNCTION & FORM.
Maybe that’s why Helmut Lang retired so early as he hated the fashun industry politics..
Details | City Rain jacket, Wind shirt, base layer, jeans - Rapha | Sneakers - CdG PLAY CHUCKS
& Oldie but a goodie..
I find it quite amusing when old posts are found & reblogged by others..
* I miss this umbrella.
Cows don’t need umbrellas..
So don’t worry about wearing leather shoes in the rain - just worry after.
To shine or not?
Some like the high polish (such as Ethan), whilst other prefer a natural lustre (such as I). I won’t get into what is involved for a military shine as this is covered quite extensively.
